If I could pick just one song that I liked the best off of Ron Sexsmith’s new album, “Long Player Late Bloomer” I’d have it cued up for this week’s Song for Saturday. But this album is just too good not to listen to from start to finish. Pure genius.

Ron was a neighbour for years, we used to give him lifts. He is beloved on the Canadian music scene and a “musician’s musician”. Good guy, too, very unrockstar-like.

It’s good to know that he’s as down-to-earth as he seems. I hope that this album and the documentary film bring him the attention and success he deserves. I’ve had his songs in my playlists for years, but this is the first complete album I’ve bought — it won’t be the last, for sure.
