I just loved this Op-Doc on the New York Times.

Though being a middle-class WASP woman with curly hair has never carried the same weight as being a woman of color with natural hair, the feeling of freedom and self-acceptance that Zina Saro-Wiwa describes is a common experience for many of us who have embraced our “born-with” hair texture.

If you’ve got curls, you may also want to get hold of a copy of Curly Girl by Lorraine Massey. It’s now in its second edition, and it’s made a huge difference in my life. If you’re a curly — and especially if you’ve got a curly kid in your life — have a look. I think you’ll like it.
