The sofa IS my office

I’m going to let you in on a secret. When the weather gets warm, I go a little frumpy. I don’t teach in the summer, except for a two-week orientation right before fall semester begins — so I don’t get out of the house much. Add to that a freelance project or two with tight deadlines, and I often find myself succumbing to the same yoga-pants-plus-tee-plus-flipflops look day after day. It’s depressing. It makes me feel unlovely.

It’s also really silly. I have a closet full of nice summer clothes. (Not necessarily professional, but they’re more than OK for writing/editing/skyping.) So I’ve decided that even if my plans for the day don’t include anything more public than meeting the mail carrier at the box, I’m stepping it up. This is a more pulled together alternative for slaving over a hot laptop, doncha think?
