The last giant, gnarly thesis is behind me and I’m easing back into my routines. Having a cup of coffee and enjoying the sounds of bird song and of my nephew playing “Angry Birds Rio,” at my elbow. Us old folks like to play it with the sound off, but it’s better (apparently) if you get to hear all the crashing and smashing. Outside, if you could hear it over the game’s sound effects, the flowering hawthorn tree is alive with with hundreds of bees, humming and buzzing.
