I have been feeling stuck for the last month — making no real progress on any of the things I want to progress on — career, overseas move, de-thinging. Now granted, some items on the list are going to take time, faith, and patience. But others need more of a frontal attack, and sooner rather than later. The problem is, whenever I start to think about the process, it feels overwhelming, impossible. And then I get a little more stuck.

So this morning, MamaRubi and I went off to have breakfast at a favorite early morning place and talked about out how to nibble away at the giant pile of stuff in the storage unit. She suggested we take it just an hour or so at a time, a box or two per visit.

Isn’t it wonderful that life is forever providing us with lessons about how to get out of our own way? Here’s what I’m meditating on these days:

Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.

-St. Francis of Assisi
